Doctors and Nurse Practitioner
Dr. Mattingly is a physician and principal investigator in clinical trials for Midwest Research Group. He is also a founding partner of St. Charles Psychiatric Associates where he treats children, adolescents and adults. A St Louis native, he earned his medical degree and received a Fulbright scholarship while attending Washington University. Dr. Mattingly is board certified in adult and adolescent psychiatry and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at Washington University where he teaches psychopharmacology courses for the 3rd year medical students. Dr. Mattingly has been a principal investigator in over 200 clinical trials focusing on ADHD, anxiety disorders, major depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Having served on numerous national and international advisory panels, Dr Mattingly has received awards and distinctions for clinical leadership and neuroscience research. Dr Mattingly currently serves on the board of directors for APSARD-The American Professional Society of ADHD and Related Disorders and is a certified evaluator for the NFL regarding ADHD and head concussions. He also serves on the board of Headway House, a community support program for individuals with chronic mental illness. An avid runner and outdoorsman, Dr. Mattingly believes mind, body and spirit are important qualities for him and his family.
Richard Anderson, MD PhD
Dr. Anderson is a physician and principal investigator at Midwest Research Group. He is also a founding partner at St. Charles Psychiatric Associates and treats children, adolescents and adults. He earned a Ph.D. in neurobiology at Brigham Young University, his medical degree from St. Louis University, and then completed his psychiatric residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Anderson is board certified in adult and adolescent psychiatry and maintains faculty status at Washington University where, for a number of years, he taught psychopharmacology to its medical students. As a medical student, Dr. Anderson was recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as the nation’s number one medical student entering psychiatry his senior year. Dr. Anderson has published dozens of original papers and presentations. As a clinical research investigator, Dr. Anderson has participated in over 130 clinical research trials and has helped investigate many of the newer psychiatric medications of the past 10 years. Dr. Anderson consults nationally on mental health issues impacting young adults. For the past several years Dr. Anderson has been a consultant to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has participated in developing stress management programs now being implemented worldwide by the LDS church to improve the emotional health of its 50,000 young adult missionaries. Dr. Anderson is the author of the FAST-17, a validated scale of function for young adults working full-time in a service capacity. When not flying in his beloved Cessna as a private pilot, Dr. Anderson resides in St. Louis with his wife and his daughter, Elizabeth, adopted from China.
Barbara Reed, PMHNP-BC
Barbara Reed is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-BC. She graduated from Saint Louis University in 2014 and has over 10 years of experience in psychiatric care. She has expanded experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). While working some evenings and Saturdays at St. Charles Psychiatric Associates, Ms. Reed is also employed by Washington University.
Jason Kirkpatrick, MS, LPC
Jason is the Clinical Services Manager and a licensed psychotherapist who has over 16 years experience treating children, adolescents and adults. Jason earned a Bachelors degree in psychology at Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Augusta State University. Jason is a “straight shooter” and tells it like it is. He believes life is too short to not approach issues directly.
Rick Pearl, LCSW, LPC, NCC
Rick is a licensed psychotherapist who has over 32 years experience treating adolescents and adults. Rick earned both his Bachelors degree and Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Rick strives to be conscientious of others’ needs and establish a sense of peace and happiness in the lives he touches.
Dr. Joann McCracken, Th.D., LPC, NCP
Joann is a licensed psychotherapist who has over 25 years experience treating children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Joann earned a Bachelors degree from University of Missouri-Rolla, a Masters degree from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and a Doctorate in Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. Joann is a caring and compassionate person who is willing to walk beside and give help to those in need.
Mary Jo Price, LPC, RPT
Mary Jo is a licensed therapist who has over 12 years experience as a psychiatric nurse prior to receiving her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She has worked with a variety of ages and issues. She is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) with experience treating ages 3 and up. Ms. Price is EMDR trained and specializes in trauma and early childhood issues. She is passionate about her work and enjoys being present with clients.
Jen Austin, LPC, CTTS
Jennifer Austin, MA, LPC, CTTS, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with several years of experience working with adolescents, families and adults. Jennifer is a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and has provided individual and group counseling related to smoking cessation. Jennifer received a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and a Master’s degree in Counseling and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University. Jennifer utilizes strength-based and cognitive behavioral techniques in therapy sessions. She believes that through hard work, self-reflection and positive decision making, all people have the ability to live a successful and fulfilling life.
Erin is a licensed therapist with 8 years of experience treating children, adolescents, and adults. She earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Erin believes every person has the ability to make positive changes in his or her life and that during times of struggle we often find our biggest strengths. Erin is an avid sports fan and in her free time she loves to cook and travel.
