Your participation in our research studies promotes the advancement of new medications aimed at improving various mental illnesses.
What is a Research Study?
Research studies are clinical trials where medical professionals evaluate investigational medications under carefully controlled conditions. A clinical trial may give you access to a study medication that your regular doctor cannot provide. These are medications that have already gone through a certain amount of testing and need further evaluation.
What Can I Expect?
While you are participating in a clinical trial, doctors follow detailed study plans to monitor your health. Your safety is a top priority. Your privacy is protected when you participate in a clinical research study. Your health information that is collected during a clinical trial is protected by law and requires your written permission to be used in a study. By law, we are not allowed to share your information with anyone (except the study you are qualified to participate). As a study volunteer, you have the right to discontinue your study participation at any time and for any reason.

What’s in it for me?
There are several reasons people participate in clinical research:
- Gain access to research treatments before they are widely available
- Medical care and a free psychiatric evaluation and physical exam
- Help others by contributing to medical research
- Available medications are not helping to relieve symptoms
- Possibility of experiencing less side effects than current treatment
- No insurance needed to receive medical care (if you qualify for a study)
- Receive compensation for time and travel (compensation can vary from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the study)
Eligible participants will receive study-related care, monitoring and medication/placebo at no cost. Compensation for time and travel is available. The study is administered by a board certified psychiatrist and NO medical insurance is necessary.
Our Screening Process
- When you call our office you will speak with Katie, our patient recruiter. Her job is determining whether a current research study is right for you. Some of the things we need to know are your name, birthday, height/weight, medical conditions, and current medications.
- If you qualify to participate in a current research study, we will tell you more information about the study.
- The next step is for you to visit our office for a screening appointment. At this appointment, you will meet one-on-one with a study coordinator and review the details of the study. We will review the informed consent, which explains the details of the research study, and answer any questions. After you understand the study and if both you and the study coordinator feel the study is appropriate, we will check your vital signs.
- You will then meet with the research physician and the rest of the research team involved in the study for the final decision.
