Richard Anderson, MD PhD

Meet Dr. Anderson

Dr. Anderson is a physician and principal investigator at Midwest Research Group. He is also a founding partner at St. Charles Psychiatric Associates and treats children, adolescents and adults. He earned a Ph.D. in neurobiology at Brigham Young University, his medical degree from St. Louis University, and then completed his psychiatric residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Anderson is board certified in adult and adolescent psychiatry and maintains faculty status at Washington University where, for a number of years, he taught psychopharmacology to its medical students. As a medical student, Dr. Anderson was recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as the nation’s number one medical student entering psychiatry his senior year. Dr. Anderson has published dozens of original papers and presentations. As a clinical research investigator, Dr. Anderson has participated in over 130 clinical research trials and has helped investigate many of the newer psychiatric medications of the past 10 years. Dr. Anderson consults nationally on mental health issues impacting young adults. For the past several years Dr. Anderson has been a consultant to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has participated in developing stress management programs now being implemented worldwide by the LDS church to improve the emotional health of its 50,000 young adult missionaries. Dr. Anderson is the author of the FAST-17, a validated scale of function for young adults working full-time in a service capacity. When not flying in his beloved Cessna as a private pilot, Dr. Anderson resides in St. Louis with his wife and his daughter, Elizabeth, adopted from China.
